St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble: Baroque Storytelling: Don Quixote
Sunday, November 24, 2019
2–4 pm
Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Auditorium, 3rd Floor
St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble opens their season with a concert dedicated to Baroque program music. The program highlights the narrative quality of Baroque composition with works by composers including Antonio Lucio Vivaldi and Jean-Philippe Rameau, and features Georg Philipp Telemann’s overture-suite Burlesque de Quixotte as the centerpiece. Written in seven movements, the overture takes the listener on Don Quixote’s journey, from his dreams of adventure and romance through his chivalrous love for Dulcinea and his battle against the windmill.
