Multimedia Artist Talk: Kehinde Wiley and DJ Spooky

Thursday, April 16, 2015

7–7 pm

Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Auditorium, 3rd Floor

Among today’s most innovative and successful painters, Kehinde Wiley is known throughout the world for his vivid portraits of African American men and women that use the conventions of traditional European portraiture. The portraits raise questions about race, gender, and the politics of representation.  Join Wiley in an interactive multimedia talk exploring the scope and meaning of his work on view in the mid-career survey Kehinde Wiley: A New Republic.  A performance by special guest Paul D. Miller, aka DJ Spooky, and a Q&A session follow the talk. Food is available for purchase at The Counter café, and there will be a cash bar.

Tickets are $16 and include Museum admission. Seating is first-come, first served; to guarantee seating, purchase tickets in advance at museumtix  or our Visitor Center.  Free for Members; to reserve, call the Membership Hotline at (718) 501-6326 or email us.
