Don’t miss our new Museum on Wheels during Birthday Bash, a family-friendly weekend kicking off our 200th anniversary celebration. Conceived in partnership with the Brooklyn community, this mobile museum can pull up anywhere in Brooklyn with touchable selections from our collection of teaching objects—plus a variety of activities.
All ages are welcome to partake in fun and festive activities on the plaza. Unleash your creativity and enjoy afternoons of art-making, games, and giveaways. Play and move, make a colorful print, and get to know the collection!

Japanese water marbling with Khari Johnson Ricks
Learn the creative and meditative process of suminagashi, or water-based marbling. Play with color and explore techniques for making your own marbled designs. This activity is led by Khari Johnson Ricks, whose work is featured in The Brooklyn Artists Exhibition.
Flower arranging (October 5 only)
Create the gift of a beautiful flower arrangement in this activity inspired by our reinstalled American Art galleries. Explore the process of crafting floral forms with paper and wire.
Sun printmaking (October 6 only)
Experiment with cyanotypes to create vibrant blueprints! Use photo-sensitive paper, everyday materials, and sunlight to create your own design.
Touch tour
Get hands on! Use your sense of touch to discover artworks from our collection through interactive demonstrations. Each 15-minute session accommodates up to 15 attendees.
Play and move
Grab some chalk, play a game of giant Jenga, or test your skills at cornhole! Look out for surprise bubble demonstrations by BubbleMan Stephen Duncan.
Grab a bite
Enjoy Brooklyn-inspired eats and drinks.
Free and open to the public. Space is limited for all art-making activities; first come, first served.
