At 17, the unstoppable Claressa “T-Rex” Shields of Flint, Michigan, fought to become the first woman from the United States to win a boxing gold medal at the Olympics. The screening of T-Rex (Zackary Canepari and Drea Cooper, 2015, 91 min.) is followed by a conversation with producer Sue Jay Johnson; Jason Crutchfield, Claressa’s coach; and pro boxers Alicia “Slick” Ashley and Heather Hardy. Co-presented in partnership with Independent Lens and THIRTEEN, with the Women's Sports Foundation and Up2Us Sports.

Presented in connection with Who Shot Sports: A Photographic History, 1843 to the Present.

Part of Thursday Nights hosted by Squarespace.
