Fashion Show: VERGE

    Zahyr Lauren and Van Bailey of bklyn boihood host a community discussion on queer fashion in the spirit of the exhibition Zanele Muholi: Isibonelo/Evidence. Participants include:

    • Dr. Tanisha C. Ford, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies at University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and award-winning writer, historian, and public speaker.

    • Olympia Perez, healer, artist, poet, and Content Director of Black Trans Media.

    • Jamal T. Lewis, self-identified fat, femme*, gender non-conforming media maker, storyteller, writer, organizer, and multidisciplinary performance artist.

    • Imani Rashid, author, community organizer, original member of the Salsa Soul Sisters, Third World Wimmin Inc., and board member of African Ancestral Lesbians United for Societal Change (AALUSC).

    7:30 p.m. VERGE: New York Fashion Week Runway Show
    Beaux-Arts Court, 3rd Floor

    dapperQ, bklyn boihood, Posture magazine, and DYDH Productions present VERGE, a queer New York Fashion Week runway show, executive produced by dapperQ and highlighting queer and gender non-conforming designers from Brooklyn and beyond. Come early to learn more about the featured designers, document your unique style at our photo booth, and grab a drink at the bar.

    Free with Museum admission. The Queer Fashion Panel Discussion is now sold out; limited seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please join us for the runway show at 7:30.
