Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra: Borodin, Stravinsky, and Shostakovich

Sunday, June 9, 2019

2–3:30 pm

Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Auditorium, 3rd Floor

The Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra presents a program of grand Russian music in their final concert of the season. The afternoon begins with the sparkling overture to Alexander Borodin's opera Prince Igor, then moves on to Igor Stravinsky's beautiful, playful Octet for Winds, performed by the Orchestra's wind and brass principals, and finishes with Dmitri Shostakovich's Tenth Symphony. As his first work performed following the death of Stalin, the Tenth Symphony presents an eloquent portrait condemning Stalin in particular, and authoritarian dictatorship in general.

Advance tickets are $10 for Museum Members; $20 for non-Members; day-of tickets are $25 at the door. Tickets are available through the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra.
