Brooklyn Reads: Ten Bridges I’ve Burnt with Brontez Purnell
Thursday, February 15, 2024
7–9 pm
Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Auditorium, 3rd Floor
Celebrate Valentine’s Day and the release of Ten Bridges I’ve Burnt with author Brontez Purnell, the “bard of the underloved and overlooked.” In his first collection of verse, Purnell reflects on his peripatetic life marked by misadventures and sexcapades. Throughout thirty-eight autobiographical poems, he muses on topics ranging from capitalism and Blackness to jogging and the ethics of art.
Purnell—who is also the frontperson of the band the Younger Lovers—begins this program with a performance. Next, he is joined in conversation by actor, singer-songwriter, and visual artist Justin Vivian Bond. The program concludes with a book signing and after-hours access to Copy Machine Manifestos: Artists Who Make Zines, which includes art by the author.
Tickets are $20 ($12 for Members) and include after-hours access to Copy Machine Manifestos: Artists Who Make Zines. Add a copy of Ten Bridges I’ve Burnt at checkout. Not a Member? Join today!
This program will include ASL interpretation. For access needs, email us at access@brooklynmuseum.org.
