2–2 pm
Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Auditorium, 3rd Floor
Emma Sulkowicz, artist and undergraduate at Columbia University, discusses her current endurance performance work, Mattress Performance (Carry That Weight), with Roberta Smith, co-chief art critic for the New York Times. They will continue a conversation that began with an article in the Times and will talk about the process of interweaving Sulkowicz’s personal trauma with public work, the unique experience of carrying a mattress in public, and what it means for Sulkowicz’s art that she has become an Internet-based media phenomenon. Presented by the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art.
Free with Museum admission.
