Eleanor Antin, Stalin Dancing #1, 2009. Ink and watercolor on paper

Reading: Eleanor Antin’s Conversations with Stalin

Thursday, January 31, 2013

7–7 pm

Martha A. and Robert S. Rubin Pavilion, 1st Floor

Eleanor Antin reads from her coming-of-age memoir Conversations with Stalin, about growing up in Cold War–era New York in a dysfunctional family of first-generation Jewish immigrants. Inspired by Antin’s bohemian, Stalinist mother, the memoir imagines Comrade Stalin as the young author’s confidant and father figure. This event is the third in a four-part series of readings of the memoir in full, taking place over a single week at various locations. This program is presented by the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art and is free with Museum admission.
